An unusually quiet Atlantic hurricane season turned on its head this weekend as Hurricane Fiona slammed Puerto Rico with damaging winds and practically 30 inches of rain in some areas.
A number of deaths have been reported and emergency responders have rescued round 1,000 individuals. Puerto Rican Gov. Pedro Pierluisi mentioned the injury to city areas was “catastrophic,” and rain is predicted to proceed there till Tuesday night. The storm lingered over the Dominican Republic Monday and is predicted to take goal at Turks and Caicos.
